The Toshiba 40RV525R is an incredible deal for 9! Let me start by saying this: If you buy an HD television, for cripes sake, you MUST subscribe to an HD service!!! What kind of picture would you expect from any other broadcasting? We're talking 1080p here, folks. If you don't want to shell-out for HD service, then buy a old style CRT (tube) television set! There are plenty around, still. With Direct TV's HD service I have a fantastic picture! I will say that this model's sound is less than what I expected. It does not sound like HD to me. My only other complaint is that the remote control will not turn both the TV and the satellite receiver off with one click. But I love the set, and would definitely recommend it to anyone.

I first bought a 32" Visio for 0. It had periodic flicker problems and I wasn't all that impressed with the picture or the quality or variety of the inputs anyway. I took it back to the store and got this one for 9.99. It works great with DirecTV and my year-old, low-end, Samsung, 1080P DVD player. The picture is fantastic. Even a standard picture looks good. I liked the color right out of the box and made no changes. To me, this TV says quality, the Visio didn't.
